Metabolife® Diet Pills Review

Metabolife® Diet Pills - Overview

Metabolife are one of the most successful sellers of diet and weight loss pills and, despite controversy attaching to their products like Metabolife 356®, they command respect in the diet industry.

Metabolife® Diet Pills - Issues

The main issue surrounding the use of Metabolife's diet pills and supplements concerns the ingredient Ephedra (Ephedrine or Ma Huang), a common herb widely used by many companies in the manufacture of weight loss and bodybuilding supplements and taken by dieters throughout the world. A 2001 study published in the New England Journal of Medicine concluded the herb could cause high blood pressure, heart problems, stroke, seizures and death. And the FDA has reports of 100 deaths among ephedra users. As a result, like other weight management and diet nutrition companies, Metabolife has been obliged to state (inter alia) that:

"Metabolife 356® has ephedrine group alkaloids in the form of herbal extracts and may cause serious adverse health effects."

For it's part, Metabolife assures it's weight loss and diet customers that:

"We're dedicated to improving the quality of life by providing safe and effective products to help you maintain your health and well-being."

Herbal Diet Pills are Diet Pills

Herbal diet pills containing 'natural' ingredients are not necessarily safer than non-herbal diet pills. Indeed, they can even be less safe for health and less effective for weight loss. One problem is that over the counter diet pills and supplements, including Metabolife 356®, are not subject to the same scrutiny as prescription-only diet pills. In particular, ingredient-testing and labelling regulations are less strict. This means the weight loss customer depends largely upon information supplied by the diet pill producer. The Metabolife web site does not appear to offer very much information on either the ingredients of or risks associated with it's weight loss products. More information would definitely be helpful, especially with regard to Ephedra, Ephedrine or Ma Huang.

Metabolife® Diet Pills - Do They Work?

Metabolife weight loss supplements are intended to be consumed as part of a sensible eating program. The meal suggestions provided by Metabolife are designed to offer about 1200 calories (plus snacks), which for most people is sufficient to offer steady weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week, depending on exercise.

Metabolife® Diet Pills - Summary

  • Not recommended. We prefer not to recommend any diet pills until clinical tests show that they are effective.
  • As yet, no clinical study into the long term weight loss effects of diet supplements has suggested that pills offer lasting weight loss. Indeed, all reputable studies suggest that the only effective way to achieve lasting weight loss is by sensible eating and regular exercise. Diet pills seem therefore to be superfluous.
