Caveman Paleolithic Diet Review

Caveman Paleolithic Diet - Overview

The Caveman Paleolithic Diet is based on the fact that there were no overweight cavemen - i.e. we would all be better off eating like our caveman ancestors. This means eating fruits, vegetables and lots of animal protein.

The Caveman Paleolithic Diet does not explain that most cavemen died well before many dietary or nutritional deficiencies might have become evident.

Also, while Fruits, Veggies and protein are important, this diet (like many others, these days) seems to make protein the focus of our diet. Even the hunter/gatherers from early settler days didn't gorge on meat the way protein diet pushers would have you believe.

Yes, most diet experts recommend plenty of fruits and vegetables, but one thing Americans don't need to do, is increase animal fat and protein.

Gene Spiller, PhD, a Los Altos, Calif., nutritionist and author of Nutrition Secrets of the Ancients, agrees that increasing fruit and vegetable consumption is a good idea, but...

''Trying to make meat the foundation, even if it's lean, I think is incorrect... after all, Paleolithic men and women ate meat only when they were lucky enough to catch it, not every day."

Caveman Paleolithic Diet - Claims

  • Live longer.
  • Lose weight.
  • Less disease.

Caveman Paleolithic Diet - Drawbacks

  • The diet claims have insufficient scientific support.
  • The diet looks unbalanced.
  • The amounts of meat recommended are likely to fill you up so much you may not eat the fruit and vegetables required.

Caveman Paleolithic Diet - Verdict

  • Not recommended. Too unbalanced for our taste.
  • However, it will appeal to meat-eaters.
