Carbohydrate Addicts Diet ReviewCarbohydrate Addicts Diet - Overview:The basis of the Heller's Carb Addict Diet is that some of us have an addiction to carbohydrates and by controlling them we can ultimately control our weight. It is explained in: The Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Program - by Rachael Heller & Richard Heller. At breakfast and lunch you eat meals that include no carbs at all. These meals should be half protein and half non-starchy carbs. For dinner, you have what they call a "reward" meal. This meal should be 1/3 protein, 1/3 carb and 1/3 non-starchy veggies. You can eat for a full hour, but should you choose to have seconds or thirds, you must eat 1/3 protein, 1/3 carb and 1/3 non-starchy veggies. You can't just have the carbs. To determine if you are a carb addict, they have a list of questions that will help you decide. From looking at the questions, most of us would fall under the carb addict definition. Neal Barnard, MD, President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, is likewise unconvinced by the Hellers' premise:
In a nutshell, the Carb Addict's Diet is a low-carb, high-fat, high protein diet plan which is not currently recommended by health or dietary organizations. Carbohydrate Addicts Diet - Claims
