Over-the-Counter (OTC) Diet Pills
& Weight Loss Supplements

Over-the-counter diet pills are less regulated than FDA approved prescription weight loss drugs. These over-the-counter diet pills and herbal supplements - sometimes called 'Fat-Burners' - often contain amphetamine-like active ingredients.

Such ingredients act as stimulants which theoretically increase the metabolism and help the body break down fat. Nevertheless, despite claims by pill-manufacturers, the use of OTC products alone does not cause weight loss.

However, some active ingredients in these over-the-counter diet and weight loss pills have been linked to serious side effects such as heart attacks, seizures and death.
